Buc-ee's is officially one step closer to opening its highly anticipated Stafford County location.

According to Business Journals, the Texas-based travel center chain has finalized the purchase of more than 35 acres along Interstate 95 near Exit 140 in Stafford County for $14.8 million, marking a major milestone for what will become the closest Buc-ee's to the Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia region.

The purchase confirms that the project is moving from the planning phase toward development, even though the company has not yet announced a groundbreaking or opening date.

For more than a decade, one of the most valuable pieces of waterfront land in Northern Virginia has been sitting behind fences.

Not abandoned in the middle of nowhere.

Not tucked away where nobody sees it.

Right there in Alexandria.

The old Potomac River Generating Station in Old Town North has been one of those sites almost everyone around Alexandria knows, even if they do not know the official name. A massive former coal-fired power plant. Industrial. Closed off. Sitting on the Potomac River, just north of Old Town, in a city where waterfront land is some of the most important land there is.

And now, after years of planning, debate, city review, and public meetings, Alexandria…

If you've been paying attention to what's happening at One Loudoun lately, you already know that Ashburn's most popular entertainment district is in the middle of a serious glow-up. New restaurants, new retailers, luxury apartments going up — the whole north side of the development is being reimagined. And now, the most exciting piece of the puzzle has been officially confirmed: a Tempo by Hilton hotel is coming, and it is going to be a game-changer for Loudoun County.

Whitestone Capital broke ground on the 169-room, seven-story Tempo by Hilton at One Loudoun in May 2026. The hotel is being developed in partnership with Kite Realty Group — the Indianapolis-based REIT that owns and operates One Loudoun — and is targeting a late fall 2027 opening. It…

Northern Virginia may be getting a glimpse of the future.

According to FOX 5 Washington, autonomous vehicle company Waymo has officially begun mapping parts of Northern Virginia as it explores the possibility of launching driverless ride-hailing services in the Commonwealth.

For most residents, that means you may soon start seeing vehicles equipped with cameras and sensors quietly driving through local streets in places like Alexandria and Arlington. While these vehicles are not operating autonomously today, the mapping effort is a critical first step in preparing for a potential launch of fully autonomous transportation services in the region.

And if you've visited cities like Phoenix, San Francisco, Los Angeles, or Austin recently, you've…

Why it matters:
Manassas is positioning itself for a major shift — from a regional airport to a potential commercial travel hub in Northern Virginia.

What’s happening:
Manassas City Council unanimously approved renaming Manassas Regional Airport to Washington Manassas Airport after weeks of public input.

  • The goal: increase visibility in the D.C. travel market
  • Commercial flights are expected to begin as early as next year
  • The airport is undergoing a $50 million expansion

The strategy:
Put simply — people search for “Washington” when booking flights.

  • Adding “Washington” to the name makes the airport more competitive online and in booking systems
  • It follows a proven model used by Washington Dulles International…

If you live anywhere near Prince William County—or if you’ve been keeping an eye on the Northern Virginia real estate market—you know that NOVA Live (what many of us locals still call Farm Brew Live) is a huge hit.

Between the concerts at The Yard, the food at The Black Sheep, and the beers at 2 Silos, it is easily one of the best spots in the area. But for years, it had one major problem: The logistics.

You’d have an awesome night out, but eventually, you’d have to cut it short to drive home or wait twenty minutes for a rideshare to take you to a basic hotel miles away.

As of 2026, that problem is officially gone.

The Missing Piece of the Puzzle

On December 29th, the Tempo by Hilton Manassas officially opened its…

According to a recent report by the Washington Business Journal, a transformative vision for Dulles International Airport (IAD) is beginning to take shape. Following a high-profile call for "rebuilding" the facility by the Trump administration, over half a dozen major firms have submitted bold—and sometimes controversial—proposals to reshape the Northern Virginia landmark.

The proposals come in response to a December 2025 solicitation from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), seeking concepts that would modernize an airport the President previously described as "not a good airport at all."

The "Donald J. Trump Terminal" and the Grand Arch

Perhaps the most striking submission comes from a partnership between aviation architecture firm
