While much of Northern Virginia’s waterfront real estate has quietly pushed beyond the reach of many buyers, there’s still one community in Prince William County where you can buy brand-new construction, walk to the train, and live by the water without spending $800,000 or more.

The 77th Prince William County Fair runs nine days this summer — Friday, July 31 through Saturday, August 8 — on the same 49 acres off Dumfries Road that have hosted it since Harry Truman was president.

 

It remains the largest county fair in the Commonwealth, and one of the last large pieces of open, community-run ground left on a corridor the rest of Northern Virginia is busy rezoning.

Woodbridge just landed a major new attraction, and I think it's going to be a huge win for the community.

According to People.com, Slick City Action Park has officially opened its newest location at Potomac Mills, and it's not just another entertainment venue. This location is now the largest indoor slide park in the United States.

The new facility spans more than 70,000 square feet and features 16 unique slides, indoor go-karts, mini golf, sports courts, and a dedicated area designed specifically for younger children.

Netflix has officially finalized a lease for nearly 19,000 square feet in downtown Washington, D.C., marking another major investment in the city's urban core.

According to the Washington Business Journal, the streaming giant signed a lease inside the historic Woodies Building at 1025 F Street NW, where the company plans to create a unique combination of office space, screening rooms, event space, reception areas, and theaters.

The location sits just blocks from Capital One Arena, the National Portrait Gallery, and many of downtown D.C.'s most visited destinations.

One of the biggest food rumors in Northern Virginia is starting to look a lot more real.

Eataly, the famous Italian marketplace known for combining restaurants, cafes, grocery shopping, fresh pasta, wine, cheese, cooking classes, and specialty Italian products under one roof, appears to be moving closer to opening at Tysons Corner Center.

For months, the speculation around Eataly has centered on the former American Girl space inside the mall. That two-level storefront near Bloomingdale’s was one of the most recognizable retail spaces at Tysons Corner Center for years. American Girl officially closed that location in early January before reopening in a smaller space elsewhere in the mall.

For the 77th year, the Prince William County Fairgrounds in Manassas will host nine days of the countywide fair from July 31 - August 9, 2026. 

 

The fair should draw big crowds over the course of the nine day period with carnival rides like the ferris wheel and merry-go-round/ It will also feature plenty of animal-based fun including: a petting zoo, pig races, dog shows, camel rides, pony rides and farm animals.


All of this as well as carnival food vendors will be available each day the fair is open, but there are also special events planned. The first and last day of the fair (July 31 and August 9) will be marked with demolition derbies. Meta Platforms has filed permits for a Meta Lab kiosk at Tysons Corner Center, the first retail location of its kind in Greater Washington, according to the Washington Business Journal.

The Facebook parent is bringing its hands-on hardware concept to the region's largest mall, putting Quest headsets, AI glasses, and smart wearables in front of NoVA shoppers for the first time.

Northern Virginia may be getting a glimpse of the future.

According to FOX 5 Washington, autonomous vehicle company Waymo has officially begun mapping parts of Northern Virginia as it explores the possibility of launching driverless ride-hailing services in the Commonwealth.

For most residents, that means you may soon start seeing vehicles equipped with cameras and sensors quietly driving through local streets in places like Alexandria and Arlington. If you've been watching the retail landscape in Northern Virginia shift over the past few years, here's the news you didn't see coming: Whole Foods Market is headed to Sterling.

According to the Washington Business Journal, Amazon — Whole Foods' parent company since 2017 — filed plans this week with Loudoun County to open a new location at 46300 Potomac Run Plaza, right off U.S. Route 7. The space was previously occupied by a Regency Furniture store, which closed its 45,000-square-foot Sterling showroom last year. Whole Foods is slated to take approximately 31,815 square feet as the anchor tenant in a planned redevelopment by Kimco Realty.
