If you’ve lived in Northern Virginia long enough, you already know one truth: when Great American Restaurants makes a move, the entire region pays attention. Whether it’s Sweetwater Tavern, Mike’s American, or Jackson’s in Reston, GAR has a track record of launching hit after hit — the kind of places that become part of your weekly routine.

Now they’re doing it again.

Best Buns Bakery & Burgers has officially announced its fourth location, opening in 2026, and it’s coming to West Falls — one of the fastest-growing town center redevelopments in Northern Virginia. Baltimore food lovers are about to get an early taste of something new from Chick-fil-A — and it’s a big one. Starting December 1 through January 24, the fast-food favorite will test its Chicken & Waffles Sandwich exclusively in Baltimore, Maryland and San Antonio, Texas.

The sandwich combines crispy fried chicken, maple waffles, and smoked bacon for the ultimate sweet-and-savory bite. Chick-fil-A says there will be two versions — a smaller breakfast sandwich and a larger lunch and dinner option — both available while supplies last.

Customers will also have the option to order a single maple waffle with syrup on the side. Because this is a limited-time test, diners are being asked to call ahead to participating locations to confirm availability.

The fitness scene in Northern Virginia is about to get a major upgrade. Onelife Fitness, one of the region’s most recognized health club brands, is officially headed to the Mosaic District in Fairfax.

According to the Washington Business Journal, the McLean-based company has signed a lease with developer Edens for a 53,000-square-foot facility at 2910 District Avenue, directly above True Food Kitchen. The new space was previously occupied by Custom Ink, which transitioned to remote operations several years ago.

This new location marks a significant milestone in Onelife’s regional growth, adding to its expanding network of nearly 30 gyms across Greater Washington.

There’s a certain kind of magic that settles over Northern Virginia when the air gets crisp. It’s a feeling you can’t quite get anywhere else.

One night, you’re sipping hot cider under the historic gaslights of a 200-year-old town, and the next, you’re driving through a dazzling, two-mile-long tunnel of modern LED lights. This is the "best of both worlds" lifestyle we cherish here—the perfect blend of rich history and vibrant, modern energy. As a long-time local and founder of the Real Nova Network, I’ve made it my mission to explore every festve corner of this community.

These aren’t just events; they're the traditions that build communities and make memories. If you want to experience the true spirit of a Northern Virginia Christmas, here are my…

If you only do one thing, plan your visit around the "Christmas in Middleburg" festival, held on Saturday, December 6, 2025. This isn't just a small-town event; it's a nationally recognized celebration.

It kicks off on Saturday with the event that makes Middleburg truly unique:

  • The Middleburg Hunt & Hounds Review: This is the showstopper. Around 11 a.m., Washington Street (the main drag) falls silent. Then, you hear it—the cry of the huntsman's horn. Dozens of riders in formal "pinks" (the iconic red coats) on gleaming horses, accompanied by a full pack of hounds, parade down the street. It’s a jaw-dropping nod to the town's equestrian soul, and it feels like you've been transported back in time.

  • The Christmas Parade: Later in the…

Here's the problem with this week: you physically cannot do everything that matters.

Noochie — the rapper who built an empire on front porch freestyles — is bringing Snoop Dogg to the Kennedy Center. Arena Stage is closing one of the year's sharpest revivals. Over 80 breweries are taking over Nationals Park. And scattered across the DMV are landmarks so strange and cinematic, most locals still haven't stumbled onto them.

This is one of those weeks where the calendar stacks up, and you've got decisions to make.

The big picture: Washington, DC just transformed a rooftop bar into a 50-foot snow globe—and you can step inside it.

Snowglow: Holiday at Hi-Lawn returns November 15 through January 4, turning The Dome above Union Market into an immersive winter wonderland that feels like walking straight into a holiday card.

What You'll Experience

The moment you step into the heated sphere, reality melts away.

360-degree projections wrap around you—digital artist Laura Alice's winter scenes from around the world swirl across every surface. Snow falls in slow motion. Northern lights dance overhead. Frozen landscapes shimmer and shift.

It's not just visual. The air smells like pine and cinnamon. Floating candles flicker in the dimness. Firelight glows…

Driving the news:
According to The Washingtonian, two local endurance runners—Phil Hargis and Mike Wardian—are staging the Taco Bell 50K on Saturday, November 29. It’s an ultramarathon that covers roughly 31 miles across Alexandria, Arlington, and DC with nine mandatory Taco Bell stops. Participants must eat at least one menu item at each stop and keep the receipts to prove it.

Why it matters:
This isn’t your typical ultra. It’s a low-stakes, high-community challenge that welcomes walkers and joggers, blends urban sightseeing with a food gauntlet, and is tailor-made for shareable stories.

How it works:

  • Start/finish at the Taco Bell Cantina, 417 King St, Alexandria, VA.

  • Visit nine Taco Bell locations in order; route between stops is…
