Months after the shocking announcement that the Dulles Expo Center was sold to make way for a new IKEA, the massive CSA Shows sports autograph and card convention is still searching for a new home.

Why it matters: For over 25 years, the Chantilly show has been a staple for collectors, vendors, and sports fans across the East Coast. The sudden loss of its venue highlights a tightening commercial real estate market in Northern Virginia, where large, flexible event spaces are becoming scarce.

My thought bubble: The community feel at these shows is unmatched. I'll never forget bringing a massive baseball glove to get signed by Cal Ripken Jr. He actually walked around the floor showing it off to everybody. It’s that kind of fun, personal interaction that makes CSA so special, and I’m really hoping they bounce back quickly.

What they're saying: In a recent Facebook update, organizers addressed the community's growing anxiety.

  • "We were just as surprised and sad as you were when the building was unexpectedly sold," they stated.

  • They noted they are "actively looking and negotiating for a new venue to accommodate everyone" and bring the show back soon.

The location dilemma: Finding a space that matches the Dulles Expo Center will be tough. One of its biggest perks was being just a mile from Dulles Airport, making it incredibly easy for big-name athletes to fly in and head straight to the signing tables.

What's next: A sprawling space like the Manassas Mall could make a lot of sense for the footprint needed, but they are definitely going to miss that immediate airport access.

The bottom line: The memorabilia community is holding its breath, but organizers remain confident they'll secure a spot.

Do you think Manassas Mall could pull this off, or is there another venue in Northern Virginia that would be a better fit?
