A Whole Foods Is Coming to Sterling — And It's a Bigger Deal for Loudoun County Than You Think

If you've been watching the retail landscape in Northern Virginia shift over the past few years, here's the news you didn't see coming: Whole Foods Market is headed to Sterling.

According to the Washington Business Journal, Amazon — Whole Foods' parent company since 2017 — filed plans this week with Loudoun County to open a new location at 46300 Potomac Run Plaza, right off U.S. Route 7. The space was previously occupied by a Regency Furniture store, which closed its 45,000-square-foot Sterling showroom last year. Whole Foods is slated to take approximately 31,815 square feet as the anchor tenant in a planned redevelopment by Kimco Realty.

This would be only the second Whole Foods location in all of Loudoun County. The first opened in Ashburn back…
