Fall Magic at Great Country Farms: Your NoVA Pumpkin Paradise
Northern Virginia families, Chris Colgan here with one of my absolute favorite fall traditions happening right now through October 31st at Great Country Farms.
This 400-acre working farm in Bluemont hosts their popular fall festival daily from September 19-October 31, 2025. Nestled at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains, this place is pure autumn gold, folks.
What Makes This Special

What sets this place apart? You'll find wagon rides, a 2,800 sq. foot Jumping Pillow, challenging mazes, giant slides, friendly farm animals, catch and release fishing, and rope swings. The kids go absolutely crazy for the classic corn bin and antique tractors, while parents can actually relax with live cider pressing demonstrations at 11:30am, 1:30pm and 3:30pm on weekends using the Zurschmeide Family's antique 1865 cider press.
The pumpkin picking experience is legendary – they don't include a pumpkin in admission, so you can choose any shape, variety, and size that meets your heart's desire. Plus, there's apple picking, hayrides through scenic farmland, and those apple cider donuts that'll make you forget your diet entirely.
And here's something special – you can sip wine across the street at Bluemont Vineyard (bluemontvineyard.com) and get 10% off wine bottle purchases with your farm wristband!

Pro Tips for Your Visit
Buy your tickets early at greatcountryfarms.com – weekend afternoons in October sell out faster than fresh apple butter. The farm is dog-friendly on a leash, perfect for the whole family.
If you're coming from DC or Northern Virginia, weekday visits offer better pricing and smaller crowds. The cider pressing demonstrations are weekend-only, so plan accordingly if that's a must-see.
Don't miss the ninja warrior course and pig races – unique additions that set this farm apart from others in the region. The 15-acre farm play area means plenty of room for kids to roam and explore safely.
Make It a Day Trip
Combine your farm visit with wine tasting at Bluemont Vineyard right across the street. The partnership between the two businesses creates a perfect family day – kids enjoy farm activities while adults can sample local wines. The mountain views alone are worth the drive.
If you're looking for fall vibes in NoVA, this is the spot. Great Country Farms delivers that perfect blend of family fun, Virginia countryside charm, and authentic farm experiences that create lasting memories.
