Guys, what is up? I am back with another driving tour. We are here in Falls Church, Virginia. And I decided to bring probably my top agent, Peter Van Cleave. He lives right here in Falls Church. And you also grew up in Northern Virginia, right? Yeah. I grew up in Haymarket and I've kind of lived everywhere at this point. I'm kind of locally born and raised and now doing my thing as much as I can. Yeah, man. What kind of drew you to Falls Church? Was it like your girl or something? What was it? [laughter] That usually happens. Well, definitely I got married two years ago and there's certainly more equity here. I was living in Warrenton at the time and so we decided to kind of combine forces and come to Falls Church. But more than that, it's the convenience. It's the access to everything. (0:00)
The Location: Major Highways (I-66, Route 7 & Route 50)
Especially for somebody who like me is driving all over the town all the time. Yeah, dude. You know what was crazy, man? As I was driving here, like I live out north, Haymarket and like, you know, you get on the beltway, but then it was only like one exit off the beltway from 66, but you were pretty close into DC, right? Yeah. It's like 15 minutes from DC. Yeah, I mean it's great because really if you live around here or if you live in Northern Virginia at all, you know Route 7, you know Route 29, you know Route 50, you know 66, you know 495, they all come through Falls Church. So it's really easy to get in and out of here. (0:58)
Historic Post-WWII Cape Cod & Cottage Neighborhoods
So dude, as I'm driving through here, I don't know how much you know on like the history of Falls Church, but these look like probably pre-World War II housing. Does that seem about right? Yeah, it's all Cape Cods and cottages and it's all 40s and 50s. Okay. So yeah, this would have been like the baby boomer like the World War II era housing when the growth started happening and all that. (1:32)
Real Estate Prices: Rebuilds, Tear-Downs & Multi-Million Dollar Lots
I know Falls Church is expensive. What are these going for? What does something like this cost? I mean if you're looking around, you can get a little Cape Cod for the high mid-sixes, high sixes and then they keep climbing. You can get these especially if you get the lot that's been torn down or rebuilt that goes way into the millions. Yeah, that's pretty common here, right? Like a developer or something will buy one or two lots or a house and tear them down and then build up like a two, three, four million dollar house. 100%. Yeah, it happens every day. We see it happening all the time. Even when we were coming up here, they've just torn down an entire shopping center. They're building a new hospital. It's kind of like a tear-down rebuild phase still, but it's getting there quick. Yeah, man. For sure. Plenty of shopping. I see a lot of car dealerships, kind of like anything that you would see in Fairfax or Manassas. (1:54)
Walkability & Public Transportation: Living in the "Little City"
But I also see a lot of people around walking. And then one thing I noticed when I was pulling in here, man, is there was a lot of people getting on the public bus. Is that something that's pretty common? Big time. Yeah. Yep. I mean, there's plenty of public transportation. The buses run all the time. There are main routes that run literally 24/7. And then you've got like the e-bikes and of course Ubers and Lyfts running everywhere all the time. Buses are super popular. I mean because the thing is, if you live in Falls Church, you're no more than a mile or two from the next closest thing, right? Yeah, for sure. Yeah, man. Because even when I got off near the section where you live, that was pretty close to everything. So, how far away would be like a metro station or something? Actually, I see a sign right there. It says 1.9 miles. Is that right? (2:44)
Metro Station Access: Connecting East & West Falls Church
Yeah. [laughter] East Falls Church, 1.9 miles and then you got West Falls Church. You got Dunn Loring. You know, everything's connected, especially since they did that whole Silver Line with Ashburn and Reston. So, now you can kind of go any direction you want from here. What's pretty cool, guys, like a lot of my videos that you've seen, I usually mention, hey, if you live here, you're going to need a car or you might need this. Like, I feel like here, you probably could get away with just not having a car, right? Yeah. I mean, it's Northern Virginia. If you're working and living in the same city you're living in, even then you still might need a car. But here you can get away with it, I think, a little easier. Because things like Ashburn and Reston are going to be bigger towns, whereas Falls Church proper is really only a couple of miles. Yeah, that's what you were saying to me earlier when we were kind of researching this was Falls Church isn't that big, right? Because when you go out to Ashburn, even Manassas or Centreville, those are pretty spread out areas. (3:31)
Falls Church City vs. Fairfax County: The Tax Differences
Exactly. Well, they call it the little city, right? Okay. See, I didn't know that. I thought that was Reno, Nevada. Yeah. So, it's funny because the city of Falls Church is this tiny little thing, but then you have Falls Church, like the municipal town limits, which is in Fairfax County. Right. I learned this the hard way, of course, because when you pay property taxes, you pay Falls Church if you live outside of the city of Falls Church. And then you pay Fairfax, you pay the city of Falls Church. So, if you live in the city, do you just pay the city's property taxes? Exactly. You know what? I was just doing a video on this like new laws and Fairfax County did that meal tax, but then it didn't include Falls Church City, but they already had one anyways. Right. Exactly. It gets super confusing even for people who have been there their whole lives, right? So, I mean, it's just like, okay, well, there's the city line and it makes sense. Where Falls Church is designated as part of the suburbs of it as well. Yeah. Now, you grew up in the same area I did, but you were on the quote-unquote mountain of Haymarket. So you kind of know different areas to live in, like what are the pros and cons? (4:32)
Pros & Cons of Falls Church vs. Commuter Towns (Haymarket & Ashburn)
Let's say I said, you know what man, I'm willing to commute from Ashburn, Leesburg, Woodbridge, whatever, into Falls Church or Arlington. Yeah. I mean really here it really is the commute ability, the convenience. My probably favorite thing about living here is that I get to eat at a different restaurant every day if I want to. And just the variety in itself and it's a cultural melting pot. So, you got all walks of life here, which impacts the food, which I of course love, and it's just really nice. Now, if you want to go grocery shopping, it might be hard to get in and out of a parking lot. It might take you a minute to find a parking spot, especially if you go in those peak times. Whereas, if you're living in Ashburn or Haymarket, you probably get parking a little easier. You probably get in and out of places a little easier. Yeah. And what sucks about Ashburn and Haymarket, if I wanted to get here from Ashburn or Haymarket or even Manassas, it's going to take me an hour during commute time on 66. Yeah, you guys are so much further into DC. Well, what's great is I can get there in 35 minutes, right? If I take the express lanes, if I'm going off-hours, 35 minutes to Haymarket. If I want to go on the peak rush hour, it could be an hour and 15. You know what's cool, man? Like right off the bat, I see there's a Whole Foods right there. Just came in. Yep. (5:49)
Downtown Food & Entertainment: The State Theater & Local Spots
Pop a left here and it'll take us through downtown. Right here is that State Theater you mentioned. What is that thing? So, State Theater is like Aerosmith tribute. Pearl Jam tribute. That's pretty good, actually. Yeah. It's great, man, because it's like $10 or $15 a ticket and it's like all elite cover bands. So, I went there and saw a Metallica cover band a couple of weeks ago and they were really, really good. I see Jimmy's Chicken Shack. I think that's like a local band. I've heard of them before. Yeah. So, you'll get some local guys in there. They do like comedy stuff sometimes and it's just a cheap way to kind of have a Yeah, that's kind of cool, man. Like it's got the old school look. Well, and then you got Clarendon next door which is like the beach shack that you want to go to. Like you're not going to find this stuff in Manassas or Woodbridge or even Herndon. No, this is cool because me and the wife we'll Uber from our house. We'll Uber here, have a whole night out, Uber back. Cost us $7 round trip. That's cool, right? You know, so it's great. We love it. That's pretty funny. I saw on that sign there's a band called the Algorithms. Yeah. [laughter] Hey, man. They're catching on to it. Kaiser Permanente. So, you got some medical stuff. All right. Is this it right here? This Dogwood Tavern? Yeah, this Dogwood Tavern. This is like my favorite place to come. What's good there? What do you like to eat? Their steak and cheese is good. Chicken wings good. They do like specials, but I just like that they have an outdoor rooftop seating. Yeah, dude. That's cool, man. Like that. I saw some guys setting up there. Yep. Take another right here at the light and we're back on track. So, by the way guys, if you want to buy or sell here, anywhere really, but Falls Church, Peter's the expert. He knows a lot of other areas as well, right? But text him on the number on the screen or shoot him an email. We'll put that up. So, you got Harris Teeter. This is cool, man. Okay, so I see the bikes that say Little City. (7:07)
Founders Row & The Facelift of Downtown Falls Church
Yep, exactly. Little City. They kind of revamped the whole thing. Old school motor lodge. Well, this used to be like an old inn and old motel that just got finished like this year. You'll see some cranes up ahead, some skyscrapers being put in, apartments coming down. You know, The Falls right here is a brand new restaurant, kind of upscale. Yeah. So, all this right here looks brand new. This whole Little City thing, at least to my understanding, is kind of new and it's kind of the city of Falls Church going, "Hey, we're ready to bring on new life." And they've really spent a ton of time giving this little downtown area a facelift. Yeah. What's cool, guys, as I'm looking is it looks like a lot of these like Panera and all that, and then there's apartments on top which is really cool. Like that's a new thing that you've seen a lot more of them do. And then I've seen a lot of bus stops. So you could always take the bus to the Metro, go into DC if you didn't have a car. Things like that. Yeah, man. There's this really cool area right here. I know. I've been over here before and then I remember like I took a wrong turn and I end up with all these mansions. Yep. Exactly. Yeah. It's great because they're building up here so you can get into those affordable condos. And then just a block away. Oh, cool. Like right here is a little farmers market. Got everybody setting up, people walking around. Yeah, this has got a lot of life to it. And like brand new condos right here or apartments. You got it. See, like I always crack up at these bike things right here, you know, like you can jump on one of these bikes. Well, it's great that they have them here now, you know, and it's turning into this super convenience. And like you said with the Metro, there's a bus stop like every 100 yards. It feels like I've been back here before. Yeah, we actually shot back here. Yeah. Me and you were back in here, right? Because there's this cool spot right here where you can sit out. There's already people out there with their dogs. There's a fountain going on. Yeah, they're still building this too. And then you get in here, there's a parking garage, guys. And there's all kinds of shopping. This is called Founders Row. So, you know, Peter, this is the thing that people don't get about me. They're not going to find this out anywhere else, man. You know what I mean? Like, you can just tell them how great I am if you want for a few minutes. You're the man as we know. Just always trying to get creative and getting the information. You can tell he wants better leads. You know what I'm saying? 100%. Whatever. All right. So, best friend in the whole wide world. Exactly. That's my best friend right here. And guys, comment below where you're watching from. Like, if you're going to be moving here and you want to check it out. It's funny, dude. Someone called me yesterday. They were in San Francisco and they were getting a job and I think it was like Arlington or Sterling, but it was like a flex type thing. So they told me they've been watching for 6 months and all my videos they chose Culpeper. Nice. And I was like no other agent is going to be able to have that many videos. That's right. To get you down to Culpeper, you know, Virginia from San Francisco. You know, a little bit of a change. San Francisco. That's what I told him. I was like, "Man, your house is going to be a lot cheaper out there than it is in San Francisco." Yeah. Going to have 8-10,000 square feet. Yeah, exactly. [laughter] For what you got like a shack in San Francisco. Oh yeah. My god, there's all kinds of people. Send me pictures of the Relay for America, the flag that came through this path. I walked up here and got some pictures of the flag that came through. Yeah. So, we're just coming like after July 4th and Peter went over they had that relay. What? They ran a flag from San Francisco. All the way to DC. It never stopped. It was really cool to see. (9:18)
Luxury Homes & Family Parks (Cherry Hill Park)
So, what I like about this stuff, guys, if you're looking for something different is like right here, three-level colonial. Yeah. This is where I ended up, dude. So, these are big boy houses. Like, what is something like this going to cost? Yeah. I mean, you can still in this very same neighborhood, you'll still see that original 50s, 40s, like Cape Cod, and that's still $700,000. But then you'll have these really upscale homes and you'll see them. They're all like that modern look and they're all built in the last 5 or 10 years. And those are probably 1.1, 1.2 on average. That's actually not as bad as I think. I think I saw Fairfax's average single family is about 1.5 million and Oh man, that's beautiful. Like a Victorian-looking house, right? Exactly. So, like what do people like what is there to do for families, right? Are there good schools here? Is there a lot of family activities, things like that? What's around here? Yeah, I mean there are parks everywhere. Cherry Hill, and that's I saw that on Cherry Hill. Yeah. So, parks everywhere. They've done a good job of keeping that intact. You know, there's plenty of room to walk around as you're seeing and talking about and, you know, from there it's just, you know, there's everything. There are ballet schools, there are music schools, there are kid's gyms and stuff like that, you know, where you can always find out. And as you head into Merrifield even, there are all kinds of movie theaters and restaurants. I'm looking at some new townhouses right here. And then so guys, I will tell you too, there are a lot of condos around here. One thing that you want to keep in mind is I would imagine the condo dues out here are pretty expensive, right? Yeah, they can be for sure. Especially on these newer ones, right? You're looking at at least 700 a month in a lot of cases, you know. So yeah, because they're going to have an elevator most likely and other things. Yeah. But you're paying for what's new is what's in demand. So they get away with it. American Legion right there. So, dude, which way do we go to a metro station? If you just keep heading north here, I think we'd hit West Falls Church. I know East Falls Church is behind us, and if you just kept... we're on S. This is East Broad Street. Which one's closer? I would say if we turned around, it would probably be East Broad. Let's turn around. I want to show them a metro, especially if they don't live around here, then they can get a good idea of how the metro system works. (13:02)
Why Falls Church is One of the Richest Places in America
So, one of the things, man, that I see a lot in rankings is this is like the richest place in America, Falls Church City. Like, it's either that or Loudoun County, which is near here, and it's not Beverly Hills. Like, what is that? Like, it's such high salaries or something. Yeah. I think, you know, I feel like you could get a lot more bang for your buck here even 10, 15 years ago. Yeah, for sure. So, you know, where it would cost you three or four million to do the same thing in Arlington, which is just a few miles away. Yeah. Arlington isn't that far from here. Oh, we're right next door. You know, it's just a couple minutes up the road. So, I feel like you got a lot of people that kind of landed in here knowing what a financial boon it would be to them. For sure. It's cool, man. Like you said, there are some brand new buildings going up and then there's a brand new shopping center... take a right at the 703. You said up here at the light. Yeah. All right. And there's a brand new shopping center right there that I just passed. So see guys, you can see these new condos and then there's a lot going on. So it says West Falls. And that's something that like if you... like Peter can walk you through that, he can even help you if it's a new thing. We would represent you and we work with builders all the time. And they love working with us because we do a lot of the social media and everything like that. So welcome to Birch Broad, Virginia. Yeah, this is all new construction through here, too. This looks like it's going to be really cool, man. Yeah. They're just not playing around. Well, and you know what the best thing about being one of the richest places in America is? You've got plenty of tax revenue to play with. Exactly. Yeah. They're definitely not playing around because like you said, I see some cranes, some new condos going in. And the thing is, guys, like if you're from let's say Texas or Oklahoma, there's not new construction around here, right? Like you're not going to have a D.R. Horton build a thousand homes. There's just not land for it. So you're going to have these many developers who knock down houses and then they're obviously going to want millions for them. So, I will tell you too, dude, one of the things that I noticed when I talk to a lot of my YouTube viewers, and you'd know more about this than me, is they'll say, "Man, that house was built in the '50s, but I would imagine most of these houses have been renovated multiple times." Yep. Yep. Yep. Yeah. I always joke too, you know, you get that lead base paint stuff. I'm like, you know how many times this house has been remodeled? Yeah. Guys, it's been painted in the last 60 years. If not, we got to get the hell out of here. You know what I mean? And the paint will be peeling and all of that. Well, if you're like me, you never want to get old. It still feels like it's 2015. You just keep running that script in your head. Yeah, exactly, dude. Yeah, for sure. And you know, there are some still homes in their original state that are in really good shape. That's the thing about, you know, we say good bones, but they were using some high-quality materials back in the 40s and 50s. (15:34)
Commuting to Washington, D.C. from West Falls Church Metro
Yeah. Okay, cool. So, I see this sign right here for them. Oh, this is cool. So, this right here, guys, if you bought these new condos, you could walk to the Metro. So, I see the kiss and ride, which I'm not going to do that with Peter, but I will. Basically what that is, every metro has that. You just pull up here. You can drop someone off right at the metro station. Obviously, there's parking, big parking garage. So, dude, if I were to get on this metro right here, how long do you think it would take me to get to DC? Like 20 minutes, maybe. That's not bad at all, dude. I thought it'd be a lot longer. 20-30 minutes. You know, you do have to stop at every stop. Yeah, that's always the bummer. So, you know, I probably only take the metro a few times a year, but I'm just somebody who likes living in my car, right? Same, man. I'm not a big metro person. So plus it doesn't go to Gainesville where I live. Exactly. So, you're hitting every stop, but from West Falls Church, you only have East Falls Church, Dunn Loring, you have a couple of stops in Arlington, and then you're right there in DC. So, it's not that bad at all. Yeah. And you know what's cool, guys, is because of the tourism and everything, they keep the metros here super clean and safe just because it's mainly tourists, so they keep it all good. And then like if you wanted to, you could really go to Dulles Airport or now that's going to be a hell of a ride to Dulles from here, but you can also go to Reagan Airport and you can go into the Kennedy Center in DC. You can go to a Wizards game. You can just go to all the monuments, Smithsonian, and that's something that I probably me and Peter don't appreciate as we've lived here all of our lives, you know. Yeah. Hey, you can go all the way out to Maryland if you want to. You're on and you can go anywhere you want. (18:31)
Proximity to Tysons, McLean & Great Falls, VA
Yeah, that's going to be a hell of a ride. So, dude, where should we show them next? How far is Mosaic? Pretty far? No, we're pretty close. If you get out of here, that's exactly what I was thinking. Next to it is Mosaic and Merrifield. Yeah. So, there's an area, guys, called Mosaic in the Merrifield area. It's kind of next to Falls Church, but I want to show you guys that as well. So, okay, cool. Now, say I'm somebody and I'm like, all right, you know, this is a little too expensive or maybe I want a little bit more of suburbia. Hey, I'm spending a million bucks and I've got to go into Tysons or maybe even Arlington, Pentagon. Like what areas would you suggest? I mean, it really just depends on your price point. That's the biggest part, right? So, if you have that 700K plus budget, then you can really pick anywhere you want depending on the home size and what you're looking for. And then it's just a matter of do you plan on driving? Do you plan on taking the metro? That's important. But I mean, call me biased. I love Falls Church. I would live here as a commuter town. I think it's perfect. It's just 15 minutes from everything. You know, it doesn't matter where I'm going. I'm 15 minutes away. Oh, wow. Dude, sorry to interrupt you, but I see Tysons is only 3 miles away. That's nuts, dude. Yeah. You stay on this road, it turns right into it. Yeah. Like if you were getting a job, guys, at like Tysons, McLean, like the Capital One building, it's super close. It's only 3 miles away and McLean and Tysons like that's going to be an expensive area to live in. So McLean's probably the richest place around here, right? So yeah, McLean and they got Great Falls right behind it. So you're talking really Yeah. So this is 66 guys. So you could literally get on this, go right into DC and then I think the Pentagon's probably exit 72. Which this is probably like exit 68 or something like that. Exactly. Right. Yeah. God, I'm good, man. I'm just kidding. Pretty solid. Yeah. So basically guys, this 66 West that's going to take you back out towards Fairfax, Centreville, Manassas, all those other places. But just keep in mind, you're going to want to use the E-ZPass. It's expensive, but basically that will help you. That's why I wear a hat. I try to keep all my hair. Yeah. So that's the thing, guys. But you know what? I was just down in Orlando, Florida, man. And let me tell you something, their traffic sucked. I mean, our traffic is bad, but when I was in Orlando, I was like, man, their traffic really sucked, too. So, I feel like you could almost say that about anywhere, you know? 100%. Yeah. I mean, it's no good anywhere if you're in any decent city. No. Yeah, dude. Exactly. Yeah. Well, it's like we grew up in Haymarket. Haymarket's even jammed up. Yeah. Haymarket is jammed and then like you see data centers now like everywhere and just you know they totally changed the look of that. I would say so if it was me, right, and I wanted one of those neighborhoods that had the community pool, had all the things going on, like you're not going to get that in Falls Church because they just never had the land for that, right? Like so I would think probably if I was going to the Pentagon probably like Woodbridge area to where else you think, Manassas. Yeah, I would say there are some really nice places in Alexandria still kind of outside of the downtown area that will offer that family feel. You're talking 8-900K for a family home, three-bedroom house out there. But that still offers kind of what you're talking about. They're just harder to find, right? And then yeah, heading out of that direction, Woodbridge is great and very affordable comparatively. Yeah, Manassas is getting a little... It's kind of like Falls Church in the way that it connects. Yeah, I would say Manassas is pretty Old Town Manassas. Manassas Park is pretty similar to Falls Church. You got this massive base happening. You still got like great connectors, but it's just a ton of traffic because there are just so many more houses that are built. Yeah, for sure. I would definitely say if you are like, "Hey, I really want to buy and get a ton of equity," like the closer you are to DC, the better it's going to be for your future resale. What do you think? 100%. Yeah. I mean, this is we talk what 2 to 7% equity gain on a house in this area, you know? Yeah. Yeah, for sure. You like Culpeper is closer to 2%. Yeah. Falls Church probably closer to 5 to 7%. Yeah. Yeah. And it's like they're just not building out there anywhere around here anymore. Like we just don't have the land around here. Never did they... they really didn't either, you know. So, a lot of these houses, you know, there'll never be a time like where they built all these baby boomer World War II area houses, you know. So, this is the beltway, right? So, this just does a big loop around Virginia, DC, and Maryland pretty much. Yep. Yeah. The easy way to remember it, if it's got a 95 in it, it's touching DC, Alexandria, Arlington, right? If it's 66 or 7 or 29, it's a single or double digit, then it's taking you east to west usually. So, or it's taking you far outside of Fairfax. (20:17)
How to Buy a House in Virginia: Step-by-Step Relocation Guide
Yeah, dude. So, a question I have for you is if I was watching this video and I said, "Hey, I want to buy a house." And what I did yesterday was I jumped on a Zoom with a YouTube viewer and I walked him through it. Is it a pretty simple process here in Virginia? Like, walk me through that. Like not putting you on the spot, but as far as like you got the buyer agency and then like how do the inspections work? What do you think? Super. I mean, it's easy to run through really. Yeah. You agree to work with us, agree to work with me. And we'll have an agreement that kind of states what to expect financially ahead. These days, 95-99% of my transactions, the buyers aren't paying the commission, the sellers are. Yeah. Exactly. So, that makes it very affordable and easy in that regard. You know, you can negotiate inspections. You can negotiate, does it need an appraisal? Are you going to get termites? Are you going to do radon? Are you going to do septic and well if the home's old enough? So, you got to navigate all that. Get in touch with the title company and a lender if you need one. Make sure everybody's on the same page. Overcommunicate and just kind of be available. Yeah, for sure. And Peter is definitely like a big agent with me. He sells a lot. And what happened was, guys, there was a big lawsuit. And so with the realtors and then Virginia kind of obviously piggybacked on it. So just to show you a house, you have to have an agreement. It just says, "Hey, we're going to ask the seller to pay us a commission." You understand that? The thing with our team, you can cancel anytime. So if you're like, "Hey, I don't want to work with you guys anymore," which rarely ever happens. Knock on wood. You can cancel. We're not going to tie you down or anything like that. And what usually works best too is Peter can jump on a Zoom with you and you might say, "Hey Peter, what else is around besides Falls Church?" He can show you on a map. Exactly. And then, you know, I always kind of assumed everybody knew this part, dude, but I'd realized so many states are different. Virginia is like a buyer back-out state. Very much like buyer beware. So you do an inspection and all that, you don't like it and you have a contingency, you can just walk away in Virginia. And so some other states the sellers go through all these different inspections, all that. Virginia's like, "Hey, you know what? You do your inspections, we build that in. The contingency, we build that in for you on your loan, all of that." So, it's very simple here. And then working with us is very easy. So, the big thing I would say to buying around here is you got to have somebody that knows the area, guys. Like a lot of people will call me, dude, and say, "Hey, I got a job in Herndon. Where do you think I should live?" And then they end up in like a town I told them about that's like 30 minutes away. You know what I mean? So, if you don't know that, it's hard. Yep. (25:38)
Driving Through the Mosaic District & Merrifield
So, now we're in Merrifield, guys. This is a really cool area. So, we've got some brand new townhomes over here. Again, people walking around. I see the school. Looks like a high school right here. So, this is what the Mosaic District we're at. Or is this Merrifield? Yeah, this is Mosaic. And then like right across the street is Merrifield. And you can already see the parking garage here. We just kind of came up the back end here. But Mosaic Merrifield is so Merrifield is technically its own identification. So it's not technically Falls Church and people tell me that all the time like Merrifield is not Falls Church. I'm like everybody who lives here it is. But you know like hey Jackass is for lack of a better term guys. It is. Yeah. I mean it's you know 2 miles away. It's part of our community. But you know so I think our maps took us up the back way here. But, we finally kick out of here and it's got... Dude, I remember I was here one time for Christmas and they had like people outside watching a Christmas movie. There were like people walking around like crazy like there is now. So guys, you know, it's funny. I'm looking at the security truck and I was over here one time doing a video and you would have thought I was in front of the White House. Dude, the security came running over here was like, "No filming, no filming." And I'm like, dude, I could get the same quality footage with my cell phone here and then this camera guy can, you know? So, it was kind of funny. So, they there's a lot of security. But, yeah, look at all these outdoor stores here. This is really cool, man. There's not much like this in Northern Virginia at all. Well, that's what like I say, you know, my favorite part about living here is I get to eat somewhere different every time. We've come here a hundred times. I have not eaten in every single one of these restaurants. You know what pisses me off though? I have not seen an Applebee's, dude. I You know what? [laughter] I got to agree with you there because I do love their cheese sticks and there's a Chili's in Falls Church. There you go. Chili's. Yeah. Yeah, there is a Chili's. This is cool. Like they got these townhomes. You could just walk around here. I mean, like you said, like Falls Church isn't massive, but you know what? We've been driving around for 35 minutes and we there's a lot of cool stuff here, man. The only thing that I would say is what? Tell me about that. I can't even think of the name. (28:21)
Lake Barcroft: Waterfront Luxury Homes in Falls Church
You know better than me. The neighborhood with like the lake. What is that? Oh, Lake Barcroft. Lake Barcroft. Why don't you tell me a little bit about that neighborhood? Yeah. So, that private lake, where you basically have to live on it to get access to it. So, you have to own a home in there to get access. That's a really popular neighborhood, guys. Like, we've sold in there before. It's like, what year do you think that was built? I mean, it's really a lot of 40s and 50s homes. And then, you know, of course, any body of water around here that's halfway decent. [laughter] Yeah. You're going to get slammed with construction any couple of feet you could build, it's been built on. So, Yeah. Exactly. Over the years it's just been Now this isn't a lake where I'm taking a jet ski on. I believe they actually have a no motor policy now. They actually put that in recently. So if you guys can see I mean there are like a lot of people walking around. I can see a big Target here. They got the road locked off. So this is really cool man. This is So yeah that Lake Barcroft is cool. Now how much those are got to be like 1.5 million, right? Yeah. If you want to be on the water. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. Three four probably. 3-4 million. Yeah, I think I sold a house there and it wasn't on the water. I think it was like 1.5 million. But one of our prior videos, me and you went over there and there was a little beach and things like that. It's neat, you know, and you can walk around. It's not like, you know, if you live in the area, it's not like there are policemen chasing. Remember, it's really hilly, right? Like you go up and down there. Yeah. Yeah. Well, a lot of this I mean Yeah. Really, when you look at all of Northern Virginia, it's like these rolling Appalachian foothills dying down up until you get to DC. You do have a lot of ups and downs. Like Centreville is built on top of a hill basically, but it doesn't feel like it when you're there. Yeah, for sure. For sure, man. But, yeah, there are definitely some inclines and declines, especially around that area. (30:21)
Final Grade: Is Falls Church the Best Suburb in Northern Virginia?
Yeah. Well, dude, as we end this video, I appreciate I'm going to give Falls Church an A. I think this is a really cool spot because pretty much I'm more of a suburban guy. This is like still suburban though with the city to it, I feel like, you know. Exactly. Yeah. I do miss where I grew up in Haymarket sometimes, but I do love the convenience out here and it's great to see, you know, the facelift and just everything looks really nice. But you're over here, it's just getting better. Yeah, you miss being near to me. I think that's that's the problem, man. We used to be friends and I never see you. Now you're all out here. You're a big shot in Falls Church, the richest city now. That's why Speaking of the algorithm, I'm still trying to figure out how to get you to hang out. Exactly. Well guys, if you're still watching my god, you better hit the subscribe button. Throw Peter's information up there as well. Peter, I appreciate you. Now, I'm just going to let you walk back home, man. All right. All right. Yeah. [laughter] Let me out here. I want to go back in here and get some nonsense. All right, guys. (32:04)
