Virginia has a favorite drink — and it hasn’t changed its mind.

For the eighth straight year, Tito’s Handmade Vodka topped spirits sales at Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority, racking up a massive $75 million in sales during fiscal year 2025.

That’s not just a win. That’s a landslide.

Tito’s vs. Everyone Else (It’s Not Close)

Let’s put this into perspective:

  • Tito’s Handmade Vodka: $75 million

  • Hennessy VS Cognac: $32 million

  • Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7: $27 million

  • Jim Beam Bourbon: $22 million

Tito’s sold more than double the second-place spirit. If this were a sporting event, the starters would be pulled by halftime.

Vodka Still Runs Virginia

Despite the bourbon boom and tequila hype, vodka remains Virginia’s most-purchased spirit category:

  • 1.6 million cases of vodka sold statewide

  • Same total as last year, proving consistency beats trends

  • Tequila surged to 1.1 million cases, up from 996,000

Translation: tequila is having a moment, but vodka is still the default. And Tito’s is the default vodka.

Why Virginians Keep Reaching for Tito’s

Tito’s success isn’t about flashy marketing or limited editions. It’s about reliability.

  • Works in everything from martinis to ranch waters

  • Recognizable without being pretentious

  • Affordable enough for parties, respectable enough for gifts

  • Always there, always the same

From weddings to tailgates to casual “one drink” nights, Tito’s has quietly become the safest choice in the Commonwealth.

Tequila Is Growing Fast — Just Not Fast Enough

Six of the ten fastest-growing brands at Virginia ABC stores were tequilas in 2025. Teremana, Lunazul, and Patrón all saw strong interest, and tequila sales overall increased significantly year over year.

Even so, Tito’s barely noticed.

Sales dipped slightly — down roughly $236,000 from fiscal 2024 — but when you’re sitting at $75 million, that’s statistical noise.

Local Spirits Still Getting Love

Virginia-made spirits also had a solid year:

  • Bowman Brothers Virginia Straight Bourbon: $2.4 million

  • John J. Bowman Virginia Straight Bourbon: $1.8 million

  • Cirrus Vodka (Richmond): $1.7 million

Virginia ABC now carries nearly 400 Virginia-distilled spirits, showing strong support for local producers even as national brands dominate.

The Real Winner? Virginia Itself

Every bottle sold at an ABC store helps fund the Commonwealth. Since its founding in 1934, Virginia ABC has contributed $13.9 billion to Virginia’s general fund — supporting education, infrastructure, and public services statewide.

Yes, technically, your Tito’s purchase helped Virginia.

Bottom Line

Vodka is still king.
Tequila is rising.
Bourbon holds steady.

But Tito’s? Tito’s remains untouchable.

Eight years at the top.
Seventy-five million dollars in sales.
Same bottle, same result.

Virginia knows what it likes — and it keeps choosing Tito’s.
