According to a recent report by Cher Muzyk in the Prince William Times, the renowned Great American Restaurants group is officially planning to bring its upscale-casual dining experience to Gainesville, with a target opening date in 2027.

For years, locals have traveled to Fairfax or Centreville to visit favorites like Sweetwater Tavern, Coastal Flats, and Patsy’s American. Soon, that commute will be a thing of the past.

 

Where Will the New Great American Restaurant Be Located?


The new restaurant is planned for a 4-acre site at 14100 Whitney Road, situated at the intersection of Linton Hall Road and Gateway Center Drive.

This prime location places the restaurant directly across from the Virginia Gateway shopping center. According to county documents cited by the Prince William Times, the project will involve razing the existing vacant building on the property—which was previously used during the U.S. 29 interchange construction—to make way for the new development.
